The Notorious quoted The Joker as he took to social media just one week after being banned from driving
Conor McGregor has left fans bemused with his latest Instagram post.
The Notorious quoted The Joker as he took to social media just one week after being banned from driving for speeding, reports The Mirror.
And his supporters couldn’t understand he chose the speech from the film The Dark Knight.
Accompanied by a video of him hanging out of a car window as he is cheered by passersby, McGregor wrote: “Their morals, their code; it’s a bad joke. Dropped at the first sign of trouble.
“They’re only as good as the world allows them to be.
“You’ll see, I’ll show you. When the chips are down these, uh, civilised people? They’ll eat each other. See I’m not a monster, I’m just ahead of the curve.”
One fan queried: “The f*** you talking about?” while another wrote: “I don’t understand this post, can someone explain?’
Even golf superstar Rory McIlroy replied, saying simply: “One of the best movies of all time!”
In the movie, The Joker is being interrogated by Batman when he delivers the monologue.
McGregor has been routinely criticised for his behaviour outside the Octagon since his rise to fame.
His troubles came to a head earlier this year when he threw a trolley at a bus taking fellow fighters back to their hotel in New York.
He was later arrested and charged before agreeing a plea deal that saw him avoid a prison sentence.
McGregor then agreed to settle his rivalry with Khabib Nurmagomedov in October but was comfortably beaten by the lightweight champion.
The pair were involved in an unsavoury post-fight brawl which led to them being suspended by the Nevada State Athletic Commission.
Their punishments – likely to be a hefty fine and lengthy suspensions – will be handed out in January.
