6.2 magnitude earthquake in Indonesia: People ran out of their homes in fear; however, there is no news of any major damage.

A strong earthquake struck Indonesia on Wednesday. The quake measured 6.2 and was epicentered off the coast of North Maluku. According to the geophysics agency, the quake struck at a depth of 81 kilometers (50 miles) and there is no threat of a tsunami.

Whenever an earthquake hits Indonesia, there is always the threat of a tsunami, but that did not happen this time. The quake struck early Wednesday morning and people started running out of their homes in fear. Indonesia’s disaster management agency has not yet reported any major damage.
