America individual accused of conspiracy to murder is no longer an employee of India.
The America expressed satisfaction with India’s cooperation in investigating the plot to kill Khalistan leader Gurpatwant Singh Pannu, stating that Indian officials are providing updates on their investigation, while the US State Department is providing updates on its own.
Miller confirmed that the US accused of plotting Pannu’s murder is no longer an Indian government employee, but an associate of one. The US had previously alleged that Gupta and an Indian government employee were involved in planning Pannu’s murder in New York.
On October 14, the US said that India had arrested an intelligence officer accused of trying to kill Pannu. The official’s name was mentioned in the Washington Post as Vikram Yadav.
Indian national Nikhil Gupta was arrested in the Czech Republic for conspiring to kill Pannu in June 2023. He was extradited to America in June 2024 and tried there, claiming innocence.
American agencies claim that a plan to kill Pannu was made during PM Modi’s visit to America in September last year, with a former Indian officer requesting Nikhil Gupta to plan the murder in exchange for 83 lakh rupees in work.
In April, the Washington Post reported that senior RAW officer Vikram Yadav was responsible for planning Pannu’s murder, hiring a hit team and executing the entire conspiracy to kill him.
Yadav informed Indian agent Nikhil Gupta about Pannu, who was in New York. Gupta attempted to kill Pannu but was arrested before the plan could succeed.
