Donald Trump invites Israeli PM: Netanyahu to arrive at White House on February 4; will be first guest in Trump’s new government

US President Donald Trump has invited Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu to the US. Donald Trump will host Netanyahu at the White House on February 4. The White House and Netanyahu gave this information on Tuesday.

This will be the first official visit by a foreign leader in Trump’s second term. In a statement released by the Israeli Prime Minister’s Office, Netanyahu said,

He is eager to talk with Trump to bring peace between Israel and its neighbors and jointly confront enemies.

Early last year, Trump and Netanyahu met after four years.

Israel and Hamas discuss ceasefire from February 3

According to a CNN report, the US is continuously pressuring Israel and Hamas to continue the ceasefire. In this context, the meeting between Trump and Netanyahu is very special. The ceasefire began on January 19 after 15 months of war between Israel and Hamas.

Meanwhile, hostages are being exchanged. The next phase of the ceasefire is to be discussed from February 3. Its aim is to end the war permanently.

On the other hand, Netanyahu can also talk to the US President about arms supplies. Biden stopped the supply of large bombs to put pressure on Israel during his tenure.

Before being sworn in this month, Trump sent his special representative for the Middle East, Steve Witkoff, to the region.

Palestinians return to northern Gaza after ceasefire

More than 300,000 Palestinian civilians have returned to northern Gaza from the Rafah border and southern Gaza Strip after 15 months of Israel-Hamas hostilities. Israel allowed Palestinian civilians to return to northern Gaza on January 27, following a ceasefire on January 19.

After the war began, more than 1 million people moved south. According to an Al Jazeera report, more than 47 thousand people have been killed due to Israeli attacks in Gaza, while more than 1.10 lakh people have been injured.

Under the ceasefire deal, it was decided that Israel would allow Palestinians to return to northern Gaza from January 25. However, it was delayed by 2 days due to a dispute between Israel and Hamas.
