Counting of postal ballots begins, Mahayuti ahead in initial trends, CM Eknath Shinde and Ajit Pawar ahead
Counting of votes has begun in 288 assembly seats of Maharashtra. The first counting of postal ballots was done. EVMs were opened at 8:30 am. The contest is between Mahayuti and Maha Vikas Aghadi.
The early trends show a strong lead for the Mahayuti. The Mahayuti comprises the BJP, Shiv Sena (Eknath Shinde) and NCP (Ajit Pawar), while the Mahavikas Aghadi comprises the Congress, Shiv Sena (Uddhav Thackeray) and NCP (Sharad Pawar).
Election Results
Voting was held on November 20 for 288 seats of the Maharashtra Assembly. This time, there was 4% more voting compared to 2019. In 2019, 61.4% voting was done. This time, 65.11% voting was done.
The exit polls came on the third day after the voting ended. Out of 11, the BJP alliance i.e. Mahayuti is expected to form the government in 6 elections.
The Congress alliance i.e. Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA) is expected in 4 elections and there is a possibility of a three-way assembly in one election.
