4 including Manu-Gukesh will get Khel Ratna : National Sports Awards announced, 32 players will be given Arjuna Award

The Government of India has decided to give the Khel Ratna award to 4 sportspersons including Manu Bhaker and D Gukesh. While 32 sportspersons have received the Arjuna Award. Apart from Manu Bhaker and D Gukesh, hockey player Harmanpreet Singh and para athlete Praveen Kumar will also be given the Khel Ratna. Apart from this, 32 sportspersons have received the Arjuna Award.

The Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports today (January 2) announced the Khel Ratna Award 2024. The award winners will be presented with the awards by the President of India at a special ceremony to be held at Rashtrapati Bhavan on January 17, 2025 (Friday) at 11 am.

Based on the recommendations of the committee and after due investigation, the government has decided to give awards to the following players, coaches, universities and institutions.

These players received the Dhyan Chand Khel Ratna Award 2024.

  • Harmanpreet Singh (Hockey)
  • Praveen Kumar (Para Athletics)

About Manu Bhaker :-

Manu Bhaker (born 18 February 2002) is an Indian sport shooter. She has won 2 medals at the Olympic Games, 7 medals at the Asian Games and Asian Championships, and 21 medals at the World Championships and World Cups.

She gained wide recognition after her performance at the 2024 Olympics where she became the first Indian woman shooter to win an Olympics medal by winning a bronze in the 10m pistol event. She won another bronze in the 10m pistol mixed team event, thus becoming the first Indian to win two medals in a single Olympic Games.
