Musk’s Starship’s 8th test was not entirely successful: The booster returned to the launchpad; but the ship’s engine stopped working, an explosion occurred in the sky

The eighth test of the world’s most powerful rocket, Starship, was not entirely successful. The rocket was launched from Boca Chica, Texas, at 5:00 am Indian time on March 7. Seven minutes after launch, the booster (lower part) separated and returned to the launch pad.

But after 8 minutes, 4 of the ship’s six engines (the upper part) stopped working, Musk’s Starship due to which the ship lost control. After this, the automated abort system was activated, which caused an explosion in the ship. The Starship spacecraft and the super heavy rocket are collectively known as ‘Starship’.

In photos and videos posted on social media site X, people near the Florida coast reported seeing the spacecraft crashing into the sky. The debris disrupted flights at airports in Miami, Orlando, Palm Beach and Fort Lauderdale.

Musk’s Starship Earlier, the seventh test of Starship on January 17 was also not completely successful. 8 minutes after launch, the booster (lower part) separated and returned to the launch pad, but the ship (upper part) exploded due to an oxygen leak.

Why was the 8th test of Starship carried out…

  • Testing the redesigned new generation ship
  • Deploying payload (10 Starlink simulators) from Starship
  • To conduct experiments related to returning the ship to the launch pad
Musk's Starship
  • Starship’s Raptor engine to be restarted in space
  • To catch the super heavy booster on the launchpad

Sixth testing: If there was any problem in landing on the launchpad, it was landed on water, Trump was also present.

The sixth test of Starship was conducted at 03:30 AM on November 20, 2024, at Boca Chica, Texas. The newly elected US President Donald Trump also arrived at Starbase to watch the test Musk’s Starship.

In this test, the booster was supposed to return to the launchpad after launch, but because all the parameters were not correct, it was decided to land it in water.

The Starship’s engine restarted in space. It then landed in the Indian Ocean Musk’s Starship.
