Defense agreement between the two countries, military assistance to each other
North Korea has approved a defense pact with Russia(RU), under which the two countries will provide military assistance to each other. The agreement was agreed upon during a summit between the two countries in Pyongyang, the North Korean capital, in June this year.
According to the RU news agency TASS, Putin signed it on November 9. The Russian parliament has also approved it. Due to which this agreement has now become a law. After this, North Korea also approved this agreement on November 11.
This is the biggest agreement between the two countries after the Cold War. According to this, if either country is attacked, military assistance will be provided to each other. Since then, the possibility of North Korea’s involvement in the Russia-Ukraine war has increased.
North Korea sent 12,000 soldiers to war
The intelligence agencies of America, South Korea and Ukraine say that North Korea has sent 12,000 soldiers to help RU against Ukraine. This decision was taken only after the summit held in Pyongyang.
Ukrainian soldiers also fought a small-scale battle with North Korean soldiers in the Kursk region of RU. Last week, Ukrainian President Zelensky also said that North Korean soldiers are involved in the war with RU, due to which there has been a clash between Ukrainian soldiers.
Apart from this, after 2023, North Korea has also given 13 thousand weapons containers to RU. Which RU is using against Ukraine.
Global concerns over deal
According to a report in Time magazine, concerns have grown in the US and South Korea over the deal between RU and North Korea. Both countries are concerned about what Russia will give North Korea in exchange for military aid.
American agencies fear that RU could help North Korea develop nuclear weapons by providing advanced technology.
Since the start of the Ukraine war in February 2022, RU has been trying to strengthen relations with North Korea.
