PM Modi meets Indonesian President

Prime Minister Narendra Modi met Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto at Hyderabad House in Delhi on Saturday. Before the meeting, PM Modi gave a warm welcome to Prabowo and the two leaders shook hands.

In his address after the meeting, PM Modi said,

“Indonesia was the chief guest on India’s first Republic Day. It is a matter of great pride for us as we celebrate 75 years of the Republic, Indonesia has once again been a part of this historic occasion. I welcome President Prabowo.”

Posting on Twitter, External Affairs Ministry spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal said the discussion between the two leaders will further strengthen the ties between India and Indonesia. Jaiswal called it a further step in India’s relations with an important partner of the “Act East” policy.

Our cooperation will become stronger – pm modi

The Prime Minister said that to enhance cooperation in the defense sector, we have decided to work together in defense production and supply chain. We have also emphasized on cooperation in maritime, cyber security, terrorism and extremism. Today, the agreement reached in maritime security will strengthen crime prevention and capacity building. This will further strengthen our cooperation. Our bilateral trade has gained momentum in the last few years. Last year, this trade crossed $ 30 billion.

Welcomed by Guard of Honor at Rashtrapati Bhavan

President Prabowo arrived at Rashtrapati Bhavan on Saturday morning, where he was welcomed with a guard of honour. Prabowo met President Draupadi Murmu here. In this meeting, strengthening bilateral relations between the two countries and increasing defense and trade cooperation were discussed.

President Prabowo has expressed his commitment to enhance closer cooperation and partnership with India. Expressing his happiness to be the chief guest on Republic Day, Prabowo said that he feels doubly honoured.

Tributes were paid to Mahatma Gandhi at Rajghat.

Indonesian President Prabowo paid tribute to Mahatma Gandhi at Rajghat this morning. He laid a wreath at Bapu’s samadhi and also wrote his message in the welcome diary. Subiamo was accompanied by Minister of State for Foreign Affairs Pavitra Margherita.
