Zelensky is a dictator, if he listens to his words, the country will not survive; Zelensky calls Trump a victim of Russian propaganda
The war of words between US President Donald Trump and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has intensified. Trump has called Zelensky a ‘dictator’ on his social media platform ‘Truth Social’. Trump accused Zelensky of inciting the Russia-Ukraine war. Not only this, for the first time, Trump called the Ukrainian President a mediocre comedian.
Trump wrote in his post, “Just think, a moderately successful comedian, Volodymyr Zelensky, made America spend $350 billion, that too on a war that should never have happened and that could not have been won. If it weren’t for America and ‘Trump’, Zelensky would never have been able to come up with any solution to this.”
Trump targeted former President Joe Biden, saying he was sleeping and did not talk about equal spending with Europe. The US has spent $200 billion more than Europe.
Trump also claimed that Zelensky himself has admitted that half of the financial aid received from the United States has disappeared. He also accused Zelesky of not holding an election and said that he has become extremely unpopular in Ukraine. Trump wrote, ‘Zelesky refused to hold an election, his performance in the Ukrainian polls was poor, and the only thing he was good at was playing Biden like a musical instrument. Zelensky is a dictator who is refusing to hold an election. He will have to take action soon or he will not have a country left.’
Trump wrote in his post, ‘Meanwhile, we are successfully negotiating to end the war with Russia. This is something that everyone believes only Trump and the Trump administration can do. Biden never tried, Europe has failed to bring peace, and Zelesky probably wants to continue making money without doing anything. I love Ukraine but Zelensky has done a very bad job. His country has been torn apart and millions of people have been needlessly killed and it continues.’
Speaking to reporters in Kiev, Zelesky rejected Trump’s claims that he was under the influence of “disinformation.” He said, “It is unfortunate that President Trump is under the influence of Russian propaganda. The American people have always supported us and we appreciate that. But Ukraine’s participation is necessary to end the war.”
Trump has previously made controversial statements regarding Russia-Ukraine. He said that this war should end as soon as possible, even if it means Ukraine having to compromise on its territory. This stance of Trump has worried Kiev and its Western allies. Trump’s current stance has increased concern in the US and its allies, as he also said that Ukraine could become part of Russia at any time.
