1000 days of Russia-Ukraine war: Russia’s biggest strike on Ukraine’s power grid, 3 million people in the dark

Russia’s attack on Ukraine will mark one thousand days on Tuesday. On February 24, 2022, when Rus army tanks entered the Ukrainian border, it seemed that Ukraine(UA) would not last long, that it would give up.

But for the last three and a half years, the UA army has been facing the Russia army, including attacking and occupying the Kursk region of Russ.

Meanwhile, on Sunday, Russia carried out its biggest attack on UA power grid. The attack came as the winter season in UA was about to begin.

According to UA , Russ launched 120 missiles and 90 drones, knocking out electricity in many provinces, including the capital Kiev.

More than 3 million people in Kiev are forced to live in the dark.

Ukraine Half of the electricity infrastructure destroyed, now only bunkers are available.

Russ has targeted the power grid to deprive UA of electricity in the dead of winter.

President Zelensky said that Russ has destroyed half of UA electricity infrastructure. Western countries have been appealed for help to restore the power grid.

Winter is approaching in UA and the country is already suffering from a major electricity shortage. Hundreds of UA have taken refuge in bunkers built in metro stations.

Waiting for Trump's plan to end the Ukraine war.

Neither side is ready to negotiate over the Russ-UA war. US presidential election winner Donald Trump says he will soon end the war, although it is not clear how and to which side he will show a soft stance.

Phillips O’Brien, a professor of strategic policy at the University of St Andrews in Scotland, says Russ strategy in eastern UA is advancing. Trump could try to end the war by cutting off arms supplies to UA.

If Trump cuts aid to UA and a ceasefire stops the conflict, Russ could also back down. But Russ would also have to guarantee that it will not attack again in the future.

Neighboring country alert: Poland-NATO sends fighters for security
  • Poland and NATO sent jets to protect their airspace in border areas early Sunday morning.
  • The Polish Air Force Military Command said the planes returned to their base after about three hours.
  • Zelensky said that the F-16 fighter planes donated by Europe were sent as part of the country’s defense.
  • Thousands of soldiers from both countries have been killed since the war began in 2022, and the United Nations says at least 11,700 Ukrainian civilians have been killed.

The Russ-UA War began in 2014 with Russian troops invading Crimea, expanding to Donbas in April. Over the next seven years, over 14,000 people were killed in eastern Ukraine, with the conflict escalating into a escalating conflict.

On February 24, 2022, Russ launched a full-scale invasion of UA, despite initial gains. Ukrainian defenders resisted attempts to seize major cities and launched counterattacks at Russian positions.
