Congratulations on his historic second term; Discussions on relations between the two countries
Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi spoke to US President Donald Trump over the phone on Monday. This was the first conversation between the two after Trump became the President. During this, India-US relations were discussed.

Modi wrote on social media-
It was a pleasure to speak with my dear friend President Donald Trump. Congratulations to him on his historic second term. We are committed to a mutually beneficial and trustworthy partnership. We will work together for the well-being of our people and for global peace, prosperity and security.
Even after winning the election on November 6, Modi called Trump to congratulate him on his re-election as President. In this conversation, Trump praised Modi’s popularity and expressed hope that they would work together in the future.
Both of them participated in the Howdy Modi event together in 2019.
When Modi visited America in September 2019, a ‘Howdy Modi’ event was organized for Modi in Texas. In which Trump and Modi addressed more than 50 thousand Indian-Americans. During this, both the leaders praised each other a lot. After this, Trump visited India in February 2020. A ‘Namaste Trump’ event was organized for Trump in Ahmedabad, Gujarat.
Trump announces that H1-B visas will not be discontinued
The US President issued more than 100 executive orders after taking oath on January 20. Decisions like reforms in immigration and H1-B visas were also taken, however the very next day Trump took a decision in the interest of India and said not to close the H1-B visa.
He said, America needs talent. We don’t just need engineers, we need the best professionals for other jobs as well. The H-1B is a non-immigrant visa that allows American companies to hire foreign professionals for positions with specialized technical skills. Thousands of workers from countries like India and China are employed in the United States every year through this visa.

18,000 illegal immigrants to be sent to India
Along with this, preparations have been made to deport Indians living illegally in the US. India has indicated that the government will work with the Donald Trump administration to identify and bring back all its citizens.
Last month, the government agency that deals with illegal immigrants in the US (ICE) had compiled a list of about 1.5 million people who are living in the US illegally. This list includes 18,000 Indians.
